Privacy
Playpile keeps your pile on your phone. There is no account, no login, and no copy of your library on any server we run.
What stays on your phone
Everything that makes up your pile is stored in a database on the device and nowhere else: the games you add, their status, your ratings, your notes about where you left off, your sentence about a finished game, your nickname, and your settings.
We cannot read any of it. There is no user record to attach it to, and no identifier that would let us recognise the same phone twice.
What leaves your phone
Searching for a game
When you search, the words you type are sent to a small service we run on Cloudflare, which passes the query on to the games database RAWG and returns the results. That service needs your search text and your network connection to answer it. It does not receive your pile, and we do not keep a log tying searches to a device.
Games you have already added are never looked up again.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a report is sent to Sentry so it can be fixed. A report contains the error itself, the phone model, the Android version, and the app version. It does not contain any part of your pile — no titles, notes, ratings or nickname — and it carries no email address, advertising ID or account.
Counting what features get used
The app records anonymous counts of a few actions, such as "a game was added" or "a pick was made". These are counts and nothing else. They never include a title, a note, a rating, a nickname, or anything about what is in a pile, and they are not tied to a person or a device that persists across a reinstall.
Notifications
Reminders about a release day are worked out on your phone, from a public list of upcoming releases that every copy of the app downloads. Which games you are waiting for is never sent anywhere.
Payment
Playpile Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details. The purchase follows the Google Play account that made it.
Backups you make yourself
You can export your pile to a file. That file is yours; it goes wherever you put it and is never uploaded to us. Android may also include the app in whatever backup your phone already makes to your Google account, under Google's terms rather than ours.
What we never do
No accounts. No advertising, and no advertising identifiers. No selling or sharing of data with third parties for their own purposes. No tracking across other apps or websites. No collection of location, contacts, photos or files beyond what you hand the app yourself.
Children
Playpile is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Deleting your data
Delete a game and it is gone from the device. Uninstall the app and the whole pile goes with it. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on request and nothing to send you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your phone, the date at the top changes with it.
